Every year Phi Gamma Delta host Cheers for Charity. Cheers for Charity is a philanthropic cheerleading competition among all FSU sororities in which each each squad competes to win a percentage of our total charitable earnings to be donated to their charity of choice. Cheers for charity was started in 2002 and has grown since. In 2004 it was held in the Leon County Civic Center, as it was again this past fall 2008 semester.
Cheers for Charity raises over $11,000 annually towards various charities including the American Red Cross. Every brother and new member gets to be involved in this event. About two to four brothers get the opportunity to represent a squad, bringing them water, snacks, and various announcements and information about the event.
Cheers for Charity has won the IFC Philanthropy of the year award for 2006 and 2007 and is determined to keep that title for 2008, hoping to raise over $20,000 toward for charity.
This years Cheers for Charity was held Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, FL.
